This work is a tea bowl by Peter Callas, whose rugged clay surface bears landscapes that evoke what may be called a “script of fire.” It is a piece in which fierce energy and the ultimate sense of wabi coexist.Tea bowls by Peter Callas are included in the collections of major museums and galleries in Japan and the United States, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and have been highly acclaimed internationally. This piece should be appreciated not only as a vessel for the tea ceremony, but also as a work that represents one of the pinnacles of contemporary ceramic art.。
